Peripheral Vascular Intervention Experts in Lafayette
At Lafayette Cardiovascular Center of Excellence, we are committed to saving limbs and restoring function to patients diagnosed with peripheral artery disease and critical limb ischemia (CLI).
Our peripheral vascular intervention treatments restore blood flow caused by blocked arteries to the upper and lower extremities – thereby preventing amputations and improving the quality of life for our patients.
Our outpatient environment ensures you can comfortably and safely return home 4-6 hours following your procedure.
Peripheral Vascular Intervention Treatments
Peripheral vascular intervention treatments primarily include angioplasty and either a stent or atherectomy. Angioplasty is a procedure that increases blood flow by using a balloon to compress the plaque against the artery wall. A stent is then inserted to ensure the affected area does not restrict blood flow once the balloon is deflated. (Click here for details and an example image.)
You and your physician may determine atherectomy to be the best treatment option. During an atherectomy, plaque is removed from the affected area by either breaking it up and removing it, by vaporizing it using a laser, or by breaking the plaque into microscopic particles to be released into the bloodstream and disposed of naturally.
The expert physicians at Lafayette Cardiovascular Center of Excellence are among the leaders in their field, and are committed to providing the most and effective innovative treatments and technology. Each year, our physicians speak at and/or attend several conferences and trainings to increase awareness of the latest advancements in cardiovascular and endovascular care.
